Quick answer

Porcelain veneers are thin ceramic shells, usually 0.3 to 0.7 mm, bonded to the front of the teeth to change their colour, shape and length. Treatment takes two visits about a week apart, and well-maintained veneers commonly last 10 to 15 years or more.

About Porcelain Veneers

A veneer only looks natural when it is planned around the face it belongs to. Before any tooth is touched, Dr. Taheri photographs your smile, scans your teeth and designs the new shape digitally, so you see and approve the result in your own mouth as a temporary mock-up.

Modern pressed and layered ceramics such as lithium disilicate (E.max) let us keep preparation to a minimum, often within the enamel. The goal is a smile that looks like yours on its best day, not a row of identical white blocks.

Who it is for

  • Discoloured teeth that do not respond to whitening
  • Chipped, worn or slightly uneven edges
  • Small gaps between front teeth
  • Minor crowding when aligners are not an option

Step by step

  1. Consultation and records

Photographs, video, intraoral scan and a bite assessment.

  2. Smile design and mock-up

Your new smile is designed digitally and tried in as a temporary preview.

  3. Preparation and temporaries

Minimal shaping, a final scan, and well-fitting temporary veneers while the lab works.

  4. Bonding and refinement

The porcelain is tried in, adjusted for colour and bite, then bonded permanently.

Frequently asked questions

Do veneers damage the natural teeth?

Preparation is kept minimal and usually stays within the enamel. Because a thin layer of tooth is shaped, veneers are a long-term commitment and will need replacing eventually.

How long do porcelain veneers last?

With good hygiene, a night guard where needed and regular check-ups, porcelain veneers commonly last 10 to 15 years or longer.

Can I whiten my teeth after veneers?

Porcelain does not change colour with whitening. If you want a brighter shade, whiten first; the veneers are then matched to the final shade.

How many veneers do I need?

Most natural results involve the teeth visible when you smile, usually 6 to 10 on the upper arch. Your digital design shows exactly which teeth benefit.

Is the procedure painful?

Preparation is done under local anaesthesia and feels similar to a filling. Mild sensitivity for a few days is common.

How long do I need to stay in Istanbul?

Usually 7 to 10 days, with two main appointments about a week apart.

What is the difference between E.max and zirconia veneers?

E.max (lithium disilicate) is more translucent and is the usual choice for front teeth; zirconia is stronger and suits heavy bites or very dark teeth.

Can veneers fix crooked teeth?

Veneers can mask mild unevenness. For true crowding, clear aligners first often give a better and more conservative result.
